A trigger assisted reset uses the rearward and forward movement of the bolt carrier group to mechanically reset the trigger after each round. This produces a faster, more consistent reset compared to a standard trigger group. The firearm still fires one round per trigger function — it remains semi-automatic. We offer TAR systems for AR-pattern rifles, AK-pattern rifles, Glock pistols (Gen 1–5), Ruger 10/22, Taurus TX22, MP5/SP5 platforms, Kriss Vector, MAC-11, S&W M&P 2.0, and more. Each product page specifies exact compatibility. Always verify your platform before ordering.

Material varies by product. Common materials include 4140 heat-treated steel, S7 tool steel, D2 tool steel, 304 stainless steel, and carbon fiber-reinforced nylon. Exact materials are listed on each product page. We do not use unspecified or generically-described materials.

The Kabuto 3 Position TAR ($100) uses a carbon fiber-reinforced nylon housing with a reinforced steel trip component. The Kabuto Steel Housing 3 Position TAR ($200) uses a full reinforced steel housing. The steel version offers greater durability; the polymer version is lighter. Both are ambidextrous and universal.

Most of our products are true drop-in units that do not require permanent modification to your firearm. Installation difficulty varies by platform but is generally straightforward for someone familiar with their firearm's fire control group. Video guides are available for all major platforms on our Installations page. If you are not comfortable, consult a qualified gunsmith.

Generally no special tools beyond what would normally be used to disassemble your firearm's fire control group — typically a roll pin punch set and hammer for AR-pattern firearms. Platform-specific requirements are shown in the installation videos.

Common causes of inconsistent reset: (1) Bolt carrier group not moving freely — check for obstructions and ensure proper lubrication. (2) Improper seating of the TAR unit — remove and reinstall, confirming correct alignment. (3) Insufficient lubrication on the BCG or trigger group. No. All Dumpy Defense TAR systems are designed as drop-in units that replace the existing trigger group without permanent modification to the receiver or other components. Your original trigger group can be reinstalled.

We ship to select U.S. states. We do not ship to California, New York, Illinois, Hawaii, or certain cities including Miami, FL and Philadelphia, PA. We do not ship outside the United States. See our full Shipping Policy for the complete list of restricted states.

Orders are processed in 1–3 business days. Delivery typically takes 3–10 business days after processing. Pre-order items ship according to their stated lead time. Tracking is provided for all orders.

Shipping is a flat rate based on the speed you choose at checkout: Ground Standard $10, Ground $15, 3 Day Express $20, 2 Day Express $25, and Overnight Express $50.
